Default 89 s2 timing belt questions need advice FAST please

i just bought an 89 s2 for a great price but the timing belt slipped due to some teeth shearing off. the car was idling and this happened when the po tried to take off so it was all at low rpms. my question is do i need to replace any valves since this happened at low rpmsand the belt only slipped?

Speed and RPM have nothing to do with it. The head design is interference. You will need to replace 4 as a minimum. Then there is the "while they are in there" jobs. Gaskets, seals, cam tensioner pads, water pump if origional......

depends on how many teeth the belt slipped, I know with three teeth out of alignment I had the valves touching slightly....

Yup. Just been through this myself.

Valves, but probably not all of them, only the bent ones. May as well get the valve seals redone, and if you had thought of getting the valve seats cleaned up (machined), now'd be the time.

If you were thinking of a light polishing of the intake runners, now'd be the time as well.

If your chain tensioner pads are worn, now'd be the time as well, but it's pretty easy to get at that later. Either way.

Make sure to magnaflux the cams to make sure that the teeth on the cams have not been weakened. This is usually a low cost item (perhaps even free) at a local, reputable machine shop.
