LSD [TurboS into S2]?????
Hi Folks
Does any body or has anybody swaped a LSD from a TurboS "951" + put it into a S2 ????
This would be a full Gearbox + diff unit together....
If so is it worth doing?????

I'm sure if they swap however I would guess they do.
I believe the final drive ratio of the turbo is approx 3.375:1 as compared to
3.875:1 for the S2.
if you swap a turbo differential (3.39:1 ratio) into the S2, you will gain top speed and improve fuel economy but lose acceleration.
Do you want to lose acceleration?

I have a (Non-LSD) Turbo tranny in my S2. The final drive and 5th gear ratios are different. I'm not sure how much top end speed you gain, since I think the limiting factor would be horsepower rather than gearing, but it's still pretty quick, and you don't have to shift as often. The Turbo S tranny will bolt right in to your S2 with no problems.

Ta for that info ..
Ive just visited your site + it looks GOOD
I particularly like the roll bar you had made.....
How is it fastened down to the car?? It seems like youve just bolted it through the rear seat belt mountings? Is that the ONLY fixings????
Can you give me some more details on it ...ie have you done a small production run ? + are you likekely to market some?? If so what would the cost be????
Also hows the car now youve done the upgrade to the larger torsions???

Here's my opinion; Swap out the whole tranny and axles if you have one from a 951S. It's a lot cheaper and more reliable.
My '94 968's tranny is still fine, but I've heard too many stories about early pinion bearing failure on the 6 spd 968 trannies. Some say only the non-LSD trannies have the problem, some say all of them can go bad.
I had a '90 944S2 with a 951S tranny in it (3.375 vs 3.875 final drive) with intake, exhaust and chip, and it was considerably faster than my 968 or my friend's '89 911 Carrera (especially in 4th gear from 100 to 130).
When you have enough torque, longer gears may be a better option at certain speeds.
