Check engine light on ... now off ... now on !
What would make the Check Engine light come on for a bit, then go out?
Basically this has happened at the last two autocrosses I've done because the car spends a longer than usual amount of time idling. This weekend, did the auto-x Saturday, light came on somewhere in middle of runs, stayed on during drive home of ~30 miles, still on Sunday when I took a 10 minute trip up and back to the store, this morning light is out. Engine runs fine, no discernible change in performance, just the light. Dad also reports that it occasionally comes on if you let the tranny hold the car back on a lengthy downhill (ie, no gas).
As a possibly related note, car just failed emissions, was over on HC and NOx. Sounds like cat is bad from that, but maybe something else too?
