Moderate Mods To 944 ??? Which to go with ?
Hey Guys,
My brother has a 84' 944 with about 90k miles on it.
What Mods would give him the biggest bang for the buck ??
I spend most, if not all my time on the 951 board so I am pretty
ignorant about mods that can be done to the 944, without spending a
$hit load of $$$... These Mods would be done in order
to give the car a bit more power which it lacks ....
Thanks in advanced
Ed

learn to drive...
no easy way to increase power in 2.5L NA without spending BIG money.
On a track they can be driven quite quickly if they driver can get anything close to the car's potential from it.

"learn to drive..."
Actually he is a pretty good driver ...
I am a firm believer in the cars potential and know it handles great ...
I was hoping there would be some relatively easy way to boost the power a little...
This would be for the street

There is no cheap, bolt-on power for your car, unless you raise the VIN and drive a 944 Turbo under it.
If you want to spend a lot of money ($15K), there is a race engine builder around here who can get you to 190 bhp.

eddie,
the above is preety much right,
there is "NO" cheap and easy way to get more power/buck without spending big.
POrsche have already done a lot of work as is, ie its not detuned for the public like some ricers
1) drive the car like you stole it, well into the rev ranges, the sweet spot only kicks in at around 3k revs !
2) dont even bother about chipping, its all snake oil
3) make sure your car is safe, porperly maintained
4) get some "speed" driving lessons

A couple of suggestions:
* make sure that the car is well-sorted out (esp in the tire department)
* "light is right" -- start taking out excess creature comforts
