944 Decals Rear wheel decals
Does anyone else have a decal on each side of their 944 right in front of the rear wheels on the lowest part of the body? I've noticed alot of 944's dont have this...The reason I ask is because my decals in the position have been cracking for quite some time and now look just awful up close. I'd like to remove them, but due to the age of the car I'm worried about what will happen to the paint. Whats everyone think about buying new ones and applying them over the old ones?
Thanks,
Bob

I made the post for "stone guards." Don't worry about hurting the paint when you peel them of, as I have already done this. However, you should keep two things in mind. Set aside ONE HOUR for removal of EACH one. You need to pull of the stone guards at a 90 degree angle to the paint so the glue will not stick to the paint. If the glue does stick, purchase some 3m adhesive remover. The only question I cannot answer is where to get the new ones, as that was my post question this morning. Good luck, James

Stone Guards
Replacement Stone Guards are available from several Porsche 944 specialty aftermarket houses...ordered mine years ago from Ian down in Fort Lauderdale, but just check the net for Porsche 944 parts suppliers...
They were fairly expensive...seems like $120.00 per set ... includes the ones behind the front wheels as well. Takes a LOT of patience to remove the old ones with heat...hairdyer on high maybe...hated to use more than that...Lots of luck!
