Hi Gents,

The shift from 2nd to 1st gear is getting increasingly stiff in my 944S. Before I mention it to a mechanic, I'd be curious to get your "best guess" in terms of what it might be and how much it would cost.

I have very little technical knowledge, but I remember that when the same thing happened to my RX-7 years ago, it was the clutch "master slave cylinder" and it wasn't too costly.

POSSIBLY clutch.

good check,
under transaxle, remove inspection rubber,
stick hand in and twist the torque tube side to side
clanking means clucth is prolly gone

Hi Sun King,
It might just be a simple gear box oil change you need, I've been told this can make a big difference. OR
I could be the gear bushes in the linkages by the gear box end. Don't think its serious. Mention these things to the machanic and see there opinion.

yep, it could be gearbox oil as well,

check all the basic's plus the one I said as well

oh yeah, you did use the "correct grade of tranny oil" ?
