Going Price for 944s2's?
I'm searching for a P car and have narrowed it down to 944s2 or 911sc. I have a 98 M3 as a daily driver, and the P car will be a toy, probably no track.
Myy questions are:
1. What pushed you guys to an S2 over a 911?
2. What are "fair" price ranges for these cars these days (USA)? There is one on Ebay right now with a buy it now price of $9000. I would buy it in a heartbeat if it was not red. I'm looking at a '91 tonight, but it is priced at 12,500 with 101k miles, and 17" rims. That seems about $1500 - $2000 too high too me.
Advice please!

after my red S2 was stolen last wseptember I bought a Z28. I wanted another porsche for DEs, and weekends.
called on a few 911s, and was ready to look at a 73 when i realized the air conditioning would be marginal at best. couldn't imagine driving 3 hours to lime rock with no air, and no armrest. back to the 944s i went.
i bought my gray S2 three weeks ago with 54k miles, no body damage worth going into, a few chips, dings. no evidence of accidents, no dash cracks, records from 98 with 44k miles. needs tires, maybe brakes, and belts because of age. I paid under 10k.
oh, and i have the 10 speaker stereo but no LSD or M030 suspension.
paid under 10, but got 14k plus 1k tax for my 89 with 74k when it was stolen. there is a copy of the article in this months sports car market magazine with my story on the 944 board.

I chose an S2 over a 911 because I got a more modern car for the money. S2's have very good ABS brakes, better seat belts and Air Bags. The 944's also have less of a tendencay to spin-out compared to the 911's.
In addition, they have more cargo space and better climate controls than a similarly priced 911.
At DE events, my S2 was pretty much running with the 911SC's. Some were faster than me and some were slower. However, the 911's handle very differently - they are slower into curves but faster out.
I am currently trying to sell my car for $9,000 and I think that I have a buyer. It has sport shocks/struts/springs/torrsion bars and is chipped.

simply stated, I had more than twice the average S2. You will too when you have over $25,000 into your S2!
Scary thing is my new S2 (grey) may be even cleaner than my old one was (red) which was extremely clean, but neither is/was nearly as clean as my '93 Z28-M6 was when I got it last september, before I drove it in the snow!
Sports Car Market is a great cover to cover read!

Option 1 Keep the M3 and your $.
Option 2 Buy a 968 cab
You are not going to find a improvement over what you have.
I have owned all of them.
Good Luck
