1987 Porsche 944 - Summer Yellow

Just purchased this 1987 Porsche 944 in Lemon Yellow - LM1A. I read that it was marketed as Summer Yellow in the US. Any idea how many came in this color in 1987? This 944 has 58512 miles completely original - dash has no cracks - clock works - script seats -still has Blaupunkt radio - plus tool kit and air pump. True survivor.

Great find. AFAIK, no one has records for color production. (Porsche does have the records but they are not organized in a way that they could easily tell you). Summer yellow is however one of the rarer colors. If I had to hazard a guess, I would say <5% of cars on which it was offered are that color. But that's a guess!

The name was indeed changed for North America - marketing decided that anything titled "Lemon" would imply that it actually was. The paint sticker should say Lemongelb ('lemon yellow').

I have a '87 944S in Summer Yellow, or Limonengelb as it was called in the EU, as well, just with full leather and some different extras. I absolutely love the color although it definitely splits opinions. I've searched far and wide for information of how many was painted in this color but so far without success. I've owned mine for nearly three years now and have only very rarely seen others in this colour online (about 3-4 including yours), so my guess is that it is less than 1% of the cars that were painted in this colour. It was also only available for 1987 so it is very rare.
