Replaced clutch, blew clutch master cylinder?
I replaced the clutch on my 87 944S, within minutes on the initial test drive, the pedal started to not return, I could pull up with my toe.
Mechanically it felt fine, when depressing the pedal, I have movement of the TO bearing release fork, all seems well there.
I power bled the slave and got significant air out of the system, pedal came back. Within minutes of second test drive, problem returned.
I have not tried a second bleed, as I have a feeling the master is shot. I have no visible fluid leakage at the reservoir, or slave. It was dark so I did not look for fluid in the cabin yet, but didn’t smell anything. I was kinda frustrated after the second test drive and simply parked it and walked away.
Such is the life of a 944 owner with a new project!
Could a new PP put enough stress on an old master cylinder to blow it?
If I replace the master, should I refurbish, or simply replace the slave while I am at it?
Thanks in advance.
Charlie
