89 n/a will not start after a rain but nothing is wet

When the weather starts to get cold my car will not start I have spark and fuel the car turns over but no start this happens every year for the 6 yrs I've owned it!
Does anyone know what could be the problem? Well I thought for a few days that the temp sensor was the problem the car was starting but I think the
reason for that was it must not have been cold enough at the time for it to act up and not start that's got to be it right?? All I know is I replaced the temp sensor twice
lately and the car will not start even when I put a heat gun on it ( that's how I got it to start when we determined that sensor was the problem) but the temp around here
has dipped below 40 deg.F and no start is back to haunt me!

Probably a bad coolant temp sensor (the one that gives its signal to the DME).

is there more than 1 I know there is one on the intake is that not the sensor I should be looking at?

Sorry, I don't have a picture of a 2.7 engine, but the sensor marked with a black circle it the sensor I'm referring to.

so you say it goes to the dme? if so what number on the dme is the signal?

scotts911e 11-25-2018 04:01 PM

Well that was it I heated it up with a heat gun for about 10 minutes and she fired up! Thank you so much
you don't even know how happy i am to finally put this problem behind me.

Remove the AFM from the J Boot and spray start fluid or gasoline into the J Boot will another person actives the starter, if it starts, then the issue is probably the fuel injectors.

Remove the fuel injector rail with the fuel injectors attached. Place each injector in a separate cup. Active the starter for x seconds and stopping cranking. Determine the volume of fuel in each container. Differences in volume indicate non uniform fuel flow.

If no fuel in a cup, then switch injector with no fuel with one that sprayed fuel. Retest to determine if the original no fuel cup now has fuel.

If so, the fuel injector harness is OK. Recommend fuel injectors be cleaned and tested if non uniform fuel flow.
BayShore Fuel Injector Service does a good job.
