1983 944 - need to remove fuse/relay box
Hello fellow Rennlisters! Been a while since I've been on here. My '83 has developed a no-start condition. First thought was fuel pump, and after some testing and time, it seemed to be the DME relay. Got a new one, popped it in, and no dice, BUT when I pushed upwards on the relay, I was able to get her started several times, even drove it a little, but alas, it stalled out and I limped home with it. I pulled the DME main connection and tested the TDC and RPM sensors with a meter, and they both read in an acceptable range. I'm guessing it's a flaky connection on the back of the socket for the DME relay. How much of a nightmare is it to get the fuse/relay box pulled down just enough to get to the back side and check to see the connection for that relay? Any help would be appreciated!

I've gotten that far, but it will not pull down enough to even see the area I need to get to, and I definitely don't want to pull any harder! I hate dealing with working in tight, cramped areas, and our cars certainly have a lot of those! I made a jumper and pulled the DME relay to bypass it and jumped terminals 30 & 87b and still get no power to the fuel pump... and yes the fuse is good.

Okay, I was able to get the fuse & relay box down a wee bit more, but not enough to see the back side, but I did find this one stray unconnected plug hanging there all by itself, and it was on the left side, close to where the DME relay socket is Could this little bugger be the culprit??

Well, I was able to get the fuse box down and did find one connector for the DME relay was pushed out and wasn't making contact. Pushed it back in and reconnected the relay while the box was still down to make sure it didn't come loose, but still no start. I can feel the relay clicking by touching it when I turn the key, but still no start and I don't hear the fuel pump humming.
