Default 944 2V power

I ran across an old engine build file recently, and thought I'd share the results which I found pretty surprising. Here's the build:

Core was a stock and untouched 2.5 2V.
Block sleeved with 4" bores
JE 10.8:1 pistons to my spec
Stock cam
Stock intake and TB
951 injectors
Stock valve size, competition valve job
Optimised ports
Stock exhaust manifold
3.0 crank, race prepped
951 rods with Rod Mod
Stock ECU with tuned chip

Here are the results. Given the limited mods (no cam, no header, but with 3L stroke), I was pretty surprised to get a tad over 200HP on my engine dyno. It's a pretty good example of what the 2V engine can provide with mostly stock Porsche parts.

What mods did you make to the rods and pistons to run the 3.0 crank?

having done a bit of dyno experimenting i can see the bump in displacement (2.8ish) and the HEAD WORK really waking the thing up. compression doesn't hurt either.

nice!

The crank is a drop-in, but pistons have to match the increased stroke (shorter compression height). The stock 951 rod (and probably any stock 944 rod) will hit the pan rail due to the longer stroke, so it has to be relieved for clearance. A custom rod will typically clear.

I bet if you had that engine on hand and modified the intake runners to be say 3.5" shorter, it'd make 215 or so.

Stock Motronic ECU, custom chip tuned on the dyno.

If you have your wheels spinning, I have a DTA/Fast laptop tuneable ECU with 944 terminated harness. Crank trigger and wheel, 4x1 coil pack....

Never used.

I can't use in Spec 3.

It was tuned in real time on the dyno and a chip created. John Behe at RPR Automotive created it. He can do the same for you on his chassis dyno:
