I just bought a driver 944 s2 1991 with 150 000 kms.. Car is a japanese spec car imported in 2006 in canada. Car need some love and i will navigate this forum to help me to repair it.
Motor will be dropped to reseal it. Timing belt and water pump at the same time. Option code sticker was removed sometime in the past. VIN is WPOZZZ94ZMN400386. I planning to change all exterior bulb by led one if you juste show me where to look for it. New wheels and tires are on the plan and maybe lowering the suspension. Here some pics.

Welcome! Beautiful car! My dream S2 would probably be exactly yours but with sport seats. Mine's a Japanese import too. Similar option sticker problem..

There's some really good headlight and interior lighting related threads in the general 924/944/968 forum from the past that could help you out.

Keep us up to date!

For some reason the steering wheel is on the wrong side for a Japanese car. I think someone hasn't told you the whole truth.

My first though also, I was expecting to see a RHD car but it’s not uncommon to find LHD cars in Japan. Also iirc Japanese Porsche from the era that Mizwa distributed them, and before Porsche handled its own distribution (late-90’s), didn’t have options decals either in the service book or the car. There’s a bunch of folk on this forum with Mizwa cars who can confirm.

Yes. You'll have to go through Porsche themselves for a Certificate of Authenticity. Can't remember what it's worth. It's essentially the build sheet of the car showing all the options etc.

Not true. In Japan it's seen as exclusive or exotic to have a LHD European car. Sometimes, more so nowadays, they'll buy them RHD but often they will still order them in LHD if they have the option. Back when 944s were new I don't think they actually had the option to purchase them RHD anyways, but I could be mistaken. Mine's Japanese spec and just about everything is the same as a ROW (rest of world) spec car.

** Edited for accuracy:

Originally no, I don't think so. Had the switch but nothing worked. No wiring or bulbs for the rear fog lights. The rear taillight assembly has additional sockets for extra bulbs, so I bought a retrofit kit and rewired it. Do you have the high-mounted one at the top of the rear window?
