Not in the market but what would you say is the biggest issue regarding removing the trans? I'll will be needing to do this at some point in order to address some clutch issues.

Best of luck on your sale.

It honestly wasn't too bad. This came off a dedicated parts car, so I had less concerns about getting thinsg back together,
The transmission (transaxle) weight about 140 lbs, so if you can get a lift to help you lower it, get one. I used a motorcycle lift for mine.
The only real annoying thing for me was moving the plastic tube that protects the shifting linkage out of the way. It was just tight maneuvering for me.
ALso, make sure you have triple square (cheesehead) socket bits, as you will nee those to disconnect the rear axles.

Thanks. I scored a set of triple square sockets from Santa knowing that this job was in my future. I was just recently under the car changing the trans fluid and was wondering about how high I'd need to raise the car in order to really get under everything without my mechanic's claustrophobia kicking in.

I see Harbor Freight sells a small trans jack that seems like it might work, if the clearances are doable with only jack stands.

One other thing: Is that plastic tube supposed to go forward or backwards?

Worst case with the harbor freight jack: You use it once, then return it as you weren't 100% satisfied. Kind of ethically gray, but to each their own.
I don't think it needs to be raised super high, and you don't ever need to get directly under the transmission. I believe I just stayed in the wheel well areas. The transmission only weighs 140lbs so it's not terribly difficult to move around.

The plastic tube went towards the front of the car for me. It was annoying though.

I have the tranny lift from Harbor Freight, works great! I get the car jacked up about 2 feet( from back bumper to floor). Transmission comes out easy.

I'd much rather use platforms than Jack-stands. So much easier to get under (with less worry).
