1985 Front Bumper Differences?

I figured out my car is a late 1985 but what is with the front end differences? Mine is like the 2nd photo. Does this mean it is an "S" model? The VIN is: WP0ZZZ94ZFN404652 if that helps.

You have a Euro front bumper. The U.S. 944S looks identical to the U.S. 944 except for the rear badging and the optional “Ventiler” side moldings. Under the hood the 944S has a noticeably different air box and cylinder head.

I put that Euro bumper on my 944S. I like the look and I wanted to differentiate from the standard 944 n/a.

If the fourth thru sixth digits in the VIN (as read under the windshield or in the door jamb) truly are ZZZ, then your car is a Rest of World market car and not originally delivered to North America.

(The number stamped on the firewall is not the VIN).

As noted, the second picture is the standard-equipment European market bumper.

It is not an S model as that was not offered for model year 1985.
