Default New 944 owner

Hey all, at 52 years young I’m finally the owner of an 86 944 NA. I’ve always wanted one and I’m extremely excited about the car and looking forward to restoring it. The car came with a bunch of replacement parts like belt kit, fuel pump and other stuff. I consider myself a moderately competent wrencher, just completing a timing belt and water pump on my Audi TT. My question is can I visually inspect the belts and check the tension on my 944 to see if they need to be changed or should I just change them since I don’t know how long they’ve been on. Also, there is an eBay timing belt tool kit for the 944. Are these ebay kits good or is another place to source the tools that are better quality. I’ll get a pic up ASAP.

Welcome Larry, if last belt change not known change it. Visual inspection not good enough as looks can be deceiving (personal experience) For parts I use 944online as Ian and his crew really know the cars. As you've done the an Audi you will probably not have any problems doing this.

Thanks Joe for the response. I’ll go ahead and change the belts then. Looking for the tools I need I did come across 944online and have purchased the tool kit from Ian. Thanks again

I am also a new owner and rather than create a new thread and waste space I figured I would ask a couple quick questions. I have a 1984 n/a with an S2 trans swap and am wondering what is the maximum offset you can run for wheels? Also are there any 944 owners who run air suspension and what manufacturers are available. I'm new to any forum usage so I don't know if this needs to be moved or not.
