Sheesh, pulled the air filter out of my 1985 NA 944 and was so focused on what kind of debris I might find I can't recall how it went in. So silly, but I can't find anything on rennlist, clark's, anywhere on the interweb. Solutions to complicated problems but not this (okay, I did stumble on a Clark's vid. once of how to open the trunk...).

Here's my replacement. Does the orange rubber surround go up (as in the below pic.) or down as it sits in the box?

pretty sure it only fits one way - orange "down"

Ah, right you are, V2. It only fits orange down, just as in the pic. Shoulda just looked before I posted. Thx.

Crap, correction, just looked at pic and it's not orange down. So, flip the filter from how it's positioned in pic and you're good.
