Can be done with the hood installed, but certainly offers more clearance if you remove the hood.
Using a load leveler for tilting the engine forward and backward is helpful. A lot of people get away without this, but I found it useful.
Take off the distributor cap and rotor to avoid damaging them.
Remove the fan assembly and the radiator - you’ll need the clearance to slide the engine forward to disengage the clutch from the drive shaft.
Disconnect the cross member to give the oil pan clearance - needed when attempting to slide the engine forward to disengage the drive shaft.
Leave the A/C compressor in the car - disconnect it from the engine before removal.
