So I wanna buy a nice car with stick shift, and after driving my dad's merc, I really wanted to get a german car. I found this 944, and it has high mileage, so normally thatd be a stay away from me. However, a lot of threads say that these cars are tanks, so I was hoping the experts here at Renist could help me out and tell me if this is a safe buy, as long with anything else I should know going into the purchase.
This is going to be my first car, and I have 5k set aside for stuff. I also live in NYC if thats relevant

It looks great.
if you can get that one for 2500-4k you'd have a real deal.
when shopping 944s, pick the model in the best physical condition (paint+interior) and with the most recent maintenance history. Mileage is almost irrelevant- these things are very durable and easy to work on for the most part. Timingbelts, water pump, clutch, fuel lines are all things you need to ensure are taken care of.

Thanks! I'm slightly worried about the fact that I have never worked on cars, and the 944 could be difficult from my understanding. Also, how much life do you think I could get out of the engine since it has been rebuilt?
