Default 84' 944 radio wiring issue

My 84' 944 has a small amp in the dash for the radio. I am having some issues and I removed the amp for now and the head unit works. My question here is will this cause a problem? Is that amp necessary to prevent issues? I was surprised that when I removed it and wired the head unit that it still worked fine! I am actually about to take it to a professional installer but i've done multiple installs prior so I was hoping to knock this out myself. Never on a Porsche of course though so I don't want to mess anything up!! Thanks for the help

An amp is there to boost the audio from the radio to the speakers. Is the radio sound volume the same? The head unit should still play but it won't be as loud. The amp should not affect anything else. I assume you have a blaukpunkt head unit? I have an Alpine head unit with alpine amps I don't remember taking out the additional amp and I haven't had any issues. Good luck.
