Default Cam cover and intake question

I needed to take my intake back off and get it sealed better. Anyway long story short. I ordered some stuff from Roger and he sent me 26 washers. I am pretty sure those go on top of the intake washers. He also sent me 4 O rings. I am asssuming those are for the 4 Cam cover inlets. He also sent 5 pins that I am clueless on. The are about 2 in. long. Anyone know where they go?

These pins go under the rear bridge and plug the oil outlets. These new pin plugs supercede the old rubber plugs. Without them in place your 'tappets will chatter'. They are of specific length to fit under the bridge and form the 'seal'.

Thank you but I still can not see where they go. Can you give me some more description on where to look. Do I need to take the allen heads out on the rear of the cam housing? I really did not want to go that far. Are they important now that I am this far. I guess they would be if he sent them to me.

Camera is not cooperating right now but I did some more searching and will now remove the rear bridges and hopefully that is correct.

Sorry I can't label pics well, but on the PET image, west (9 o'clock to number 38 of the part number list) is the cam cover bridge. It is seen but not numbered or listed. This is the part running across the first image with the smudges on top. You can see a hole at 10 o'clock relative to the center of this first image. This is where your pin goes. At 2 o'clock on this same image there is the rubber plug that has not fallen out of its appropriate place. This old rubber plug is next to the pin that you have in the second image.
I had tappet chattering, and when I opened the cam cover I found 2 crumpled rubber plugs floating in there. The pins are a must. They are permanent, and once done - done.
Hope this helps.
Craig

You will have to remove cam covers.

The washers are for the cam covers as theres 18 bolts per cover, 5 of which come with washers from the factory. Adds more pressure to help seal the CC gaskets.

There are only 10 nuts/studs that hold the intake which you should have replacement rubber seals that mate with the intake gaskets.

If you have not already read then re-read Dwaynes intake R&R epic.

I think I know what you are talking about but the pin does not fit the hole. I tryed to push it in but ended up dropping it down the oil passage. That is another thread I started. I am really wishing I would have just put the Cam covers on at this point and not worried about taking the bridge off. You could say I am a little ill right now.

Is where they go? They do not want to go in but maybe they are just a tight fit?

Looks fine. Place the bridge over just to see the fit. I remember thinking the same thing. Then loctite it, bolt it. Hope you can simply pull the wandering one back.

I can not get them to seat and now the top is getting smashed. I am really nervous right now about it breaking off. I measured them out with the old rubber plugs and it looks to match perfect if they seat all the way. So is the theory to let more oil run freely without the rubber stoppers?

I remember having some difficulty with the fit in, but not to your degree. Did the original rubber plug set up possibly break off leaving a small piece recessed in the hole ? Does the plug fit in the neighboring hole with the same difficulty ? Can you use a small probe and feel an obstruction in the hole ?

Went to my garage - part # 928.105.262.00 - Jive with yours ?

It seems to be a tight fit in all the holes. I think I will try to emory cloth the next one before I put it in.
