Help Identifying wiring plugs
These four plastic plugs are all on the passenger side of console. MY 1983. They are all in the same area next to radio and hvac. They are all 4 pin, Two are male and two are female. They each will plug into the other, same shape. They have no exact color matches for wires. My question, which male plug goes to which female plug ? Figured I had a fifty /fifty chance of guessing correctly.

Follow te colors. They usually don't change as they pass through a connector.

That would be too easy. That is the problem. The colors change as they pass thru the plugs. Top pics are the two male sides and bottom two are the female sides. As you can see there are no matches. One plug may come from auto temp motor that is on inside of console.

You're going to have to sit with the WD's and painstakingly match'em up. Here's a quick link to some if you don't have them, but the earliest is MY84.

The cars are somewhat consistent from year to year on what colors are used for what services in the car. I threatened at one time to start a database of wire colors vs services in the cars, but like many good ideas it only seems like a good idea when you actually need it.
Meanwhile there are actually a limited number of functions that transit that console section from the back. Window and sunroof switches, the rear wiper switch, and on very early automatic cars the shift indicator lights. That should narrow down the scope of sleuthing a little. The switches for the windows use the same colors at the switch end, but change colors when they connect to the car with differences between left and right. Ditto the sunroof switch. You can use a multimeter to test connections/continuity changes and identify the switches per service, then find the color codes for the body harness side for each service so you can mate them all correctly. On "customer" cars I'm not afraid to use a Sharpie marker to put the service on each shell and sleeve. On my own I put a relatively permanent stick-on label like a P-Touch. Remember that every connector has a unique number in the wiring diagrams, so you don't need to search very hard for a standard to follow.

Thanks Bob. It is my own fault for not marking them at disconnection. Not the first time the console has been out. All the other connectors like windows are plugged in. These two threw me off. I will sort it out as always.

I'm pretty sure the plug that has the yellow wires on it IS the connection for the interior temp sensor mounted to the console.
I believe the one with red/blu/gray is related to the audio system. I can't remember the other two.

The one with 2 orange and 2 brown wires plugs into the microswitch for the vacuum actuated center flap in the console.
The one with 2 yellow, a red, and a brown wire are for the temp sensor on the center console.
I only know this because my 81 has the same AC system. Not sure about the other 2 though.
