We had a GREAT time this weekend at Sears Point. Love the track! its brutal, especially when its warm, as its just a lot of work in our cars vs other tracks. the x-Holbert car was amazing as usual. I was really beating it up, and again, it shows no signs of weakening. I cant tell you how many people came over to my paddock and made comments or offered stories about the 928. funny, it was getting more attention than the event winning prototype I was pitted with .

Race was fun.... ended up passing the Transam car near the mid way point and there was a lotus that ended up in the wall behind me..... last few laps under caution. but great dicing with the NSX 600hp turbo and the transam as well as the purple nascar of Joe Montana

The car ran flawlessly , and the temps were below the middle line the entire race. fans even turned off. that over heat issue has not shown up at all since last seasons last thunderhill event when I had a air in the engine cooling system. now I remember to burp the system always before each day.

I am getting close to the 100th race day with the stroker engine. near 100 hours!!!!

Just before the weekend I was doing my nut and bolt, and noticed when I grabbed the wheel , the more than usual movement side to side.. turns out the wheel wasn't moving............all steering rack slop.. all the bushings are non-existent! so, I have to make some changes before next months race at Laguna!! starting to buy new tires once a year too. Big changes coming.

starting to think about the fender widening project, the Aston Martin Intake conversion, and possibly other ideas . Ive run the same car for 20 years now, and all my competitors have just upped their games with much newer and better technology.

Good to be back here to wave the 928 flag among the 928 brothers and sisters here.

Thanks Chris... Ive been very appreciative of all the support privately! I just need to play nice a little better here! the racing is still fun.. Got to love the car , right??

Here is the rear cam view .. fun start and the nascar toward the end was getting his sea legs and finally blew by me with his 750HP. over shot turn 7, and then cam back on... pretty funny. I got a good laugh there. notice the sounds!!! its actually like music to me! also notice NO smoke throughout the race. pegging the rev lmiter, just barely quite a few times!

Thanks Guys! Great to be back! anyone have experience with the steering rack bushings i HAVE to change before my next race at the end of July? Ive heard the nylon bushings are really the way to go for a race car. it has been so sloppy for a long time, and just assumed it was old technology.......when i moved that steering rack around like it wasnt even bolted in, it made sense why my steering is so non-sensitive!

Welcome back to the 928 forum.

The aluminum steering rack bushings are probably the best option for your dedicated race car. The Delrin bushings are great option for road cars, but can cold-flow slightly under extreme pressure. The original bushings suffer when exposed to oil/atf and extreme heat from unshielded headers.

Last I knew this is a different chassis different vin # , different engine short block, different trans axle but yes it is RED ! Good to have you back and as for the "raced same car for 20 years."...I think you are on car three...
