Default Can I add a cat to my Y-pipe with clamps?

Hi guys,
I have a nice stainless steel Y-pipe, and I would like to add a universal fit catalytic converter. Can I just cut out a length of tubing and insert the cat with Torca clamps?
Thanks
Dave

I don't see why not. We sold our "Y" with the option of a high flow performance cat that would bolt to the factory cat back flange but if that has been removed, Torca clamps will work fine. Remember to tighten them until they deform over the joint and get the ones with the little yellow fiberglass seal to put across the joint of the clamp. We have it all on hand if you can't find it locally.

That's good news. I think I have your Y-pipe, but maybe I could only get it without cat at the time. Anyway, can you recommend a cat to use in a butt joint with clamps arrangement.
Thanks so much,
Dave

I called your shop and ordered the kit from Garrity, who was very helpful. I will post some pics.
Thanks,
Dave

Hi Guys,
I received the cat from Dave Lomas Utah Motorsports today. I must say it is a beautiful unit. I cut about 8 1/2" off my Y-pipe and slipped the cat over. It comes with a 4-bolt Borla style flange ready to attach to my Borla cat back system. Everything fit perfect. One glitch was I picked up a Torca-style clamp for the cat-Y joint, and it's pretty light weight compared to the real ones. I tried to use a Torca 3" butt joint clamp, but it wouldn't fit. I ordered a Torca 3" lap joint clamp and will swap soon.
My car smells much better with the cat BTW. It looks like a nice metal matrix version too.
Thanks,
Dave
