I snapped a bolt.....

Trying to get the battery cable out of the way I tried to loosen the nuts on the clamps that hold it to the body. Unfortunately near the brake line in the wheel well one nut wouldn't come off and I snapped the bolt that comes out of the body......:crying:

The remains are on the left side of the white clamp that holds the brake line; an intact bolt is on the right side:

Anyone have a clever solution or idea that might help me attach the battery cable?

Thank again.....!!!!

Can you reach the area from the inside?
If so you can grind the bolt away and mill a hole at the place. Put a new bolt from the inside out and conter it with a nut.
Use a lot of Sikaflex and you haven t corrosion.

If you can t reach the area maybe you can use a self tapping screw at the place.

Hi Karsten,

I'm a bit hesitant to still a hole through the body of the car: I don't want to end up with a corrosion problem afterwards. I must admit that I never heard of Sikaflex before; have you used it?

Have been trying to search for some bolt that I might glue on the body, as it is just to keep the cable in place and holds no real weight. Unfortunately nothing found yet....

Thank for your reply Karsten!

Hi,
I use it for a lot of things on my farm and in the biogas facility.
Itīs an sealant, glue, non corrosive black stuff. Itīs like the glue for windows.
If you smear it on your hands it holds for weeks! I have no angst for corrosion after intalling the screw.

The next two weeks we are in the netherlands, texel! :-)
