I can't take this anymore. I don't know if I want to do another M28 timing belt and water pump after seeing renegades.
I have seen LS2s on CL and my pocket is itchy.

Remember that you are comparing a C5 Corvette to a 928. When I get the transaxle, TT and driveshaft, they have been harvested from a 2001-2004 C5 ZO6 Corvette.
You are quite correct that the LS1 engine is smaller in every dimension than the M28 motor. I think the difference is the firewall position in the body for both cars. Corvette placed the engine further back to begin with, and the TTube is pretty short as a result when I get them. That's one reason they need a bit of lengthening to fit into the 928.
The other reason is the torque tube adapter that we are taking out, shown in a picture below. That adapter is normally supplied by Renegade to adapt the Chevy bell housing onto the Porsche Torque tube, and it is 8.25 cm long. In addition there is an adapter plate to hold the hydraulic TOB added, and it is another 1.62 cm thick.
In the case of installing our Transaxle kit to the Renegade/Chevy setup, both of these adapters are being removed. So I am adding the extra length they made up to my Torque Tube and driveshaft so it becomes a straight bolt-up for my customers.

So if you already have a LS swapped into your 928 this kit will bolt up?

I have a Renegade and would like to consider the trans swap to the z06, but before I do that, I'd love to hear what others have to say about the product before a 10k investment. does anyone on here have the conversion with a renegade motor?

I am looking to do an auto swap from a 99 c5 on my 82 928. The critical dimension from the front of the bellhousing to the center of the axles on the 82 is 83"(+- 1/4"). The dimension for the 99 c5 is exactly the same. Only trouble I'm having is sourci g the short shafts for the diff to use the porsche a axles and finding the custom Cross member. Is this something that you can help me with? Thank you! Love the conversion kit.

Hi Mike --
Carl is no longer active on the forum and has sold 928 Motorsports. You should contact 928 Motorsports directly with questions about their gearbox, tube and axle swap pieces.

i admire Carl for his inventions/options for our 928's but was a bit disappointed as it was never a "plug and play"... as advertised.
I assume he sold mod's to quickly to have funds .... without really testing them in real live.

I think the Carl fits nicely into the "inventor" classification. The solutions he worked on are not the same as what you might expect from a large-scale manufacturing, engineering or development company. Instead, the pieces are intended fro the more "DIY" audience of enthusiasts. He did the first 90% of the work on a project or product. It's up to the buyer to supply the other 90%, the part that it takes to do the final fitment and finishing to get things to work perfectly in your particular application.
Defiinitely an enthusiast and big-time believer in the 928 platform as a performance base. Pikes Peak, the Bonneville land speed record stuff, and his sports car racing program, all in a quest to make the best of the possibilities. Carl also has his share of personal challenges, including his wife's health issues. Seeing his race car for sale was a big surprise, but without the business to support the racing effort (or the other way around...) it was almost inevitable.
