Default 86.5 Sump Baffle, Should I?

Ok...so I am now well into the front suspension rebuild and motor mount / rack job. I'll be doing the sump gasket as well. Is there any value in adding the GTS baffle and any special equipment required apart from drilling and tapping?

Cheers
Scott

I converted the sump on my 1990 to the early pickup and screen. It had a GTS baffle in place that I removed. Other than drilling/tapping the holes no other mods were needed.

I need something there as when I pulled off the oil filler neck there was nothing but a hole to the sump. Might explain the poor running and an intake full of oil.

The GTS baffle "protects" 1/2 of the sump from the crankshaft whipping up the oil and pulling it out of the sump.

While not a cure to all of the oiling problems in these engines, it certainly is a step in the right direction, with no downside.

I tried this, years ago, to educe oil ejection/ingestion on my car on track days. Made no difference.

Been a long time since we've done "how to stop oiling problems." ("Bueller?") Searching the website will provide hours of material.
