83' Euro Porsche 928S options identification
Greetings,
I am new here in Rennlist. This is my first post.
I have a 1983 Porsche 928S (Euro), which I am restoring. I bought it from a previous owner who painted the car white, it was a really bad paint job.
I wanted to check the options of the car, so I looked around the car and found out that all the stickers that relate to the car are not there. The few forms of identification I have are the VIN plate on the car (the one found in the hood) and identification papers that do not add much help, because they also only include the VIN. They are old repair bills from workshops that don't exist anymore. So I went to my local Porsche Centre, and surprisingly, they weren't much help either. But I did find out that the color was (A1A1) which is gloss black I think (right?).
And the interior color was only labeled as (71) which I was not able to identify at all. Other information was (Country Equipment) Which only shows this (C99 without national ...) And that's it.
And I have tried to decode it in this site's VIN Decoder, but it tells me that the VIN is not valid. And until now I am unable to find out any of the options and interior trim info (Although by sight I see it is Two-tone Black and I think Pearl white, Full leather interior) But I do not know if it has ever been re-upholstered, so I'm Not sure. And am completely clueless about the options. I hope to find the information I need to restore the car to its original state, just like it how it looked when it went out of the factory in 1983.
Thank you.

There's a thread for that. It's dropped back to page 2 but it's pretty popular (156 pages):
https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...n-78-79-a.html
Post your VIN in it and there are a couple folks who have access to the factory options data. They will tell you what options it was delivered with.
No color or interior info.
Make sure you post all 17 digits. As a Euro, it should be WP0ZZZ92...

C99 refers to "special" for the country code. My '85 Euro has this code also. From my research so far, this means it was special ordered from the factory by the customer and doesn't really refer to the actual country the car was intended to be delivered to. For instance, the Carfax for my '85 Euro C99 indicates that it was driven 230 miles (I assume in Germany) before it was sold to the first owner in Houston, TX. Welcome to the group. Good luck with your search and post up any info you find out.

Welcome to the 'Tank", Another '83 EuroS 5 speed heard from!! I've got a 'Cobalt Blue' one. The last 4 digits of the VIN# is the production number, Yours is #0268 which means yours comes aluminum ball joint carriers and they tend to break. Maybe the previous owner has changed them out for steel ones. I think they started using steel ball joint carriers at Production # 900 or so. Mine is production # 1138, so mine have steel ball joint carriers.
And before anyone else say it: "This thread is useless without pictures" (We all get that when our first post has no pix....We all want to see your ride..LOL)

The car when I first found it (1 year ago)
Also where I found it.
The old engine. Now it is removed and I am installing another engine that I got. This old engine, as it turns out, has a broken part in the BLOCK!!! So it's for bust. At least the block.
Taking it to the workshop(The one it's in currently) In here I took it to a workshop and they did the most terrible repaint ever!! But am also going to repaint it in the new place.
The car from the bottom.
The new engine. It took me up to 5 months to find one that is M28/11(Euro, For Manual Transmission)
Repainting the area where the engine will be. I am trying to restore it as well as I can and as clean as possible.

Cool project.. the last of the CIS-S with 5 speed, w/o side moldings. One of my favorite versions of the 928. Some hard to find items intact too like exhaust, and NLA headlights.

Actually it is supposed to have side moldings, but it is not on the car when I bought it. But I bought the moldings and will install them when I can. I'll keep everyone updated 👍

There are jacking pads about the size of a hockey puck just in front of the rear wheel arches and just behind the wheel arches at the front...You can use the trans cross member in the back to jack up the rear in one go. that way the jack stands go in the jack points at the rear. You can put stands under the back 'A arm' brackets in front if you're not working on the suspension. DON'T use the 'frame rails' you see under the car. They are just sheet metal and are not 'structural'. DON'T jack the front of the car with the cross brace removed, you can crack the windshield.. To tune the car you need: fuel pressure gages and an A/F meter, ( a color-tune plug helps too.) If it hasn't been run in a while, strip off and clean ALL the fuel lines. start with the injector lines, they are easy to get to and one or two plugged injectors will have you banging your head on the floor...Porsche injectors are NLA, but you can use M.B. injectors with an ending # of ***047.. Once you have it running right, you'll find you have a real monster..You're only dragging 10 Lb per Hp!! 65 MPH and only turning 2200 RPM in 5th!!! I drove mine down to FRENZY last year and later found out I left the coolant cap loose the whole trip. Phila. to D.C. area and back in 90* heat and the car didn't overheat, despite getting stuck on the 'parking lot' they call 'the beltway', taking an hour to cover 14 miles, and cruising at 80+ mph on the trip!! YEEEEHAAAH!!!
