Default Prescott Porsche Picnic 2017

Just letting Rlister's know about an upcoming AZPCA event September 24 2017.

Last years Porsches to Prescott event downtown was fun. 2 928's were there last year. I saw a wicked silver supercharged 1980's 928 there from PHX (sorry I didn't get to meet you!)...and my red 88. There were several dozen of the 911's/Boxsters/Caymans/Cayennes, but some more rare 914's, 968's, 356's also representing.

This year's event looks to be at Goldwater lake.

Maybe the Prescott area 928 gang can get together for this one?

Details are here at the AZPCA link:
http://az.pca.org/event/prescottporschepicnic-2017/

PM me if you are going to attend! I'm contacting Bob Frith (AZPCA member, all round nice guy and 968 owner) to see if you have to be a member to attend.

Cheers!
Brian

I remember that ride last year. Lots of fun. That was my slate blue 83 928S downtown mixed in. I will try to make it up that way this year. Currently starting a 5spd manual conversion on that car.

This sounds like a fun time. Little far out, but I will pencil it in the schedual.
I'll remember to revive this thread as the date approaches.

Got an email from the organizer/AzPCA.

Picnic lunch is included. PCA members its $5. Non PCA members $10.

If anybody is going to this please let me know a week before the event so that I can let Bob know how much food to bring.

He also says there is a Porsche get together every other Wed at 9 am at Panera Bread company for those who don't work on weekdays.

Bump

If you are planning on going, please RSVP with PCA member Bob Frith at
Bob Frith <bob911@cableone.net>. You can pay at the event for $5 per person including parking pass (great deal). You don't have to register at the AzPCA website. He is holding a "locals table" and would like to have a good turnout.

See you there! Brian

I'm not yet sure about my schedule - but I'd like to come up for it.

I was just up in Prescott (minus the 928) 2 weeks ago.

I've copied the email I received from Bob Frith, PCA member and the head honcho for this picnic. I plan on arriving around 1030 to 11 AM (just before the Phoenix crowd shows up). Hope to meet you at Goldwater lake on Sunday 9/24/2017! - Brian

Weather here is forecast to be 66 and sunny, but a cold front is moving through so it may be a little cool with the breeze. At the lake will be a little cooler than that. A light jacket would be a good idea.

Anyway, there are 120 people registered, about 45 cars coming up from the valley. If you plan on coming up from Phoenix with the PCA crowd, please be at The First Watch no later than 8:40 am for the drivers meeting to go over driving instructions, sign waivers, etc. If you want to come earlier and have breakfast just plan to be done and ready to go by then. There's a great drive planned up the back way (curvy fun) to the lake.

We'll have three groups of cars departing about 10 minutes apart. Rook will run sweep so don't worry about not being in the first group. I had to promise Rook that being last didn't mean he would go hungry! So plenty of food waiting!

When you reach the front entrance to the park there is a kiosk where you would pay parking. There will be a volunteer there with pre-paid parking passes to distribute and point you in the right direction to our Ramada (Lakeview Ramada). When you get there, someone will point you to a parking space.

Thanks for signing up and enjoy the drive up! If you have any questions, my cell phone is 928-830-3393.
