I finally got the Bamboo Beige out of my trailer so I could take the rig to Scottsdale and retrieve the 91 S4 I acquired from Dan. Now the 91 is in the trailer waiting for a place to park it so I can start finding all the pieces I will need to put it back together, since it has been partly parted out after having an engine fire about 11 years ago.
I tried to start the Bamboo Beige, but the battery was dead. Then I couldn't get it to take a charge over night, s I took the battery to the parts store to have it checked or replace it, but they put it on the charger and gave it a full charge. When I get the battery box cleaned out I'll put it back together and drive the car some.

This little Bamboo Beige 928 had turned out to be a really nice acquisition for me. I bought it right, but it was said to have some issues. Then, after sitting in my trailer for a while I finally got it out and charged the battery. It was said to have a problem with the temp indicator and the speedo did not work. I don' t remember anything about the temp indicator, but I did some research about the speedo and decided that the problem might just be at the connector in the spare tire well. I then located the connector and found that I could not easily take it apart. so I just kind of manipulated it around a bit and wiggled it some, then went to drive the car. The speedo works, and I still haven't noticed anything about the temp gauge.
That was late last summer and I was anticipating going to the SF19 in CA in October.. I decided to load the car in my trailer and pull it out to CA for the event and then drive it around there a bit. I left for the trip pulling the trailer with my Ford F250, but I only got part way, about 300miles, and my truck failed going up the little pass just west of Richfield UT. I was stranded; and my cell phone had no access. Great. So my first thought was I am stranded. Then I thought, wait, if I had a flat I would have a spare tire, but in this case I actually had a spare car. So I unloaded the car and drove back to Richfield and called my Ins. Co to send me a tow truck. They did and I arranged to have the truck and trailer towed back to Richfield and stored for a bit, and I then drove the Bamboo Beige 928 on to CA for the event. It ran great.
I actually drove the little 928 around Southern CA quite a bit, including getting lost or dislocated in the fun run, but it served me well. After the event I drove the car back to Utah and had arranged to meet my tow truck driver from home there to haul the truck and pull the empty trailer. On the way there I even had an interesting experience in CA, between Victorville and Las Vegas, when one cop drove past me when I had 85 mph pegged on the speedo and the tach at about 3600, probably doing 95, but he had something else in mind. Then about 10 minutes another CA cop did the same and I was doing the same, but I never saw either one of them again.
I got home about an hour before the tow truck.
Since then I have been off and on driving the Bamboo Beige 928 as my alternate primary driver. One thing I have found is that this little 928, probably because of its unique color, draws more attention than any other of my cars that I drive.
I later drove the car to the PCA RMR Holiday party in Denver, and it ended up on the cover of their monthly Magazine.

Good eye, Doc. I really like these Winterlust Wheels, particularly as an upgrade to the earlier cars with the man hole covers. I have two sets of them. The only problem with using them year around is simply the stigma with the name of them. I suppose mine will end up as regular wheels on both of my 924s, which is a common application for these wheels.
