my 81 was one of the last "manual HVAC" when it was still an option. i just had all the vac pods go dumb and sorta kinda heat, AC worked. turns out the "4 way" connector by the brake booster that looked intact, actually had the bottom of the "X" busted out. so no vac. now all is fine. LOL
