Default Hans's Engine Cross Brace, love it!

I was involved in a metric ton of 928 work this last weekend, replacing a dash wiring harness on a 79, and in between helping the daughter do that (she needed no help) doing the new 928intl Alum radiator, Hans's fan shroud W/Spal fans, and Hans's engine brace.

Really like it.

I have Hans' engine brace as well...it's a great unit. I especially like once I get the button head bolts snugged down I can twist the brace and make the bar tight against the bolts...torque them down then do the jam nuts....works really nice.

No, just align the plates to the fender and snug down the button-head bolts, with the wheels on the ground twist the center link until its snug, and then snug up the jam nuts. No He-Man tightening is required. Just snugging the center link will adjust it to a point that is higher tolerance than a stock brace. You can provide additional preload to the bar by tightening it further, but it is not necessary or recommended for a standard street application.

Is that snug pushing of snug pulling? Is one of the ball joints at the end left hand thread?

Its proper construction with both left-hand and right-hand thread.

That only makes sense, Hans, but I wanted to verify.

As to the question you didn't answer, intuition says that the bar should function in the push mode, pushing outward against whatever inward pressure the shock towers might be putting inward. However, I seem to vaguely recall some discussions on this forum in the past about whether the brace functions by pushing or by pulling, and I can't remember the conclusion. That is the basis for my other question.

I don't think so, Jeff. Snug "could" work either way, however; but I am trying to find out which way it "should" work with this cross bar in the 928.

I am using the bar and pushing against the button head bolts.
