Default Rubber mounts for airbox 1987 S4

Has anyone found a replacement for the rubber air box mount 931 110 191 00? Or do you have the height and diameter dimensions so I can research? I have one in 2 pieces.

I assume you know that they are available from Porsche, our favorite suppliers, etc? Yes?

Yes, I see that there is a superseded part no. 999-703-260-00-OEM. Was hoping someone found an acceptable alternative.

I still don't understand. Why are you looking for an alternative to a part that is available?

They are, in my opinion, a little bit expensive for what you get really. I still went for the porsche option a few months back though as all things are relative. There's a very similar, if not identical, part used for the oil filter mounting on my BMW - part 11421407441 - and that will set you back twice as much.

These guys have a cool catalog : http://www.vibrationmounts.com/

But, if it were me, I'd just get it from Roger.

Now that is summed up perfectly!

It sums up nothing perfectly.

Let me explain:

The OP didn't post his model year. Nor did he post which buffer he needed to replace. And he didn't post any reason for not using the OE part. Everyone assumed that his search was price related.

Thus my question was perfectly fitting if not overly-verbose. Maybe he had a reason that was not price-related?

First, anyone that's using dealer over-the-counter pricing is either:
- new
- not paying attention
- is engaging in Reductio ad absurdum since dealer prices are always absurd and offering a totally useless comparison except to point out the absurdity.

From Pelican: $17.00+shipping
Better, but leads to useful price shopping for the correct part.

From Grainger: $2.27+ shipping.
The part number posted is the incorrect size for any application on a 928 - at least '85 - '95 NA. In some cases an incorrect rubber buffer can be made to work. In some cases you might think it works but it doesn't and will cause problems later There are various sizes on a 928, differing model-year to model-year and they are not necessarily interchangeable.

Doc Mirror, who you quote, refuted his own post.

$7 is a fine price for the correct part.

Unless you are unemployed, spending 10s of minutes trying to save a couple of dollars is a waste of time and costs you money since you could spend those 10s of minutes more-profitably elsewhere.

But, the bottom line is that the OP's post offered no context and my question was directed at getting the context.

You asked a WHY question. Being a philosopher, I offered three - no four possible answers. While they may not be rigidly constructive from a Hans, and Franz POV, they are intellectually possible, even likely.

OBTW, thousands of people all over the world go directly to Porsche for parts for their cars. I'm not defending the practice, but it is a reality, despite our collective disdain for their offerings.
