1990 OEM CD-2 radio & Amp Problem
I can't seem to figure out a dead short when I power up this radio & amp. I enter the code and it briefly displays a radio station and immediately triggers a short and blows #21 fuse. Don't know if it is the radio or Amp or both. Any guidance would help. Which buss on the CE panel are the radio wiring connected?

The power connection on the factory amp is on the same side as the round DIN plug connection. There should be one large brown wire (ground) one large red wire (continuous 12V power) and one small red wire (12V power on signal from the HU.) Apply 12V to the small red wire to switch the amp on.

When you had the amp hooked up to power on your bench did you jumper from the 12V main power connector to the 12V "amp on" input? The amp has to see constant 12V on the "power on" terminal (small red wire) to keep the amp switched on and drawing current from the main power connection. I would rig up a momentary switch between the main power in to the amp and the "amp on" terminal. A fuse inline with your power supply would be a good idea unless your power supply output is fused to the same current as fuse 21 on the CE.
