10th Anniversary of owning my 928
Just wanted to share this - my 10th anniversary of the purchase of my 928 just passed! I bought it with 130K on the (was still working, but not for long, replaced the gear) odo, and it now has 208K. I feel pretty good about that. Here's what I've done to it:
Engine:
new fuel lines
intake refresh- sensors, MAF rebuild, injectors reconditioned, refinished organ pipes
new plug wires, caps, rotors, plugs
new (7075) cam sprockets
X-pipe installed
silicone OP gasket
To do: cam chain tensioner pads
Suspension:
new shocks,
some bushings replaced
new wheel bearings
steering rack rebuilt and new hoses, lower ball joints, tie rods
To do: replace remaining bushings, upper A-arms, possibly PS wheel spindle
Brakes:
new disks
new rotors
new pads
new master cylinder
To do: new lines, new brake pad/ABS wiring
Making life better:
Electroluminescent dial faces, LED instrument lights
LED headlights
new audio
reconditioned pod and dash, very successfully I might add
many partial upholstery repairs
To do: upholstery, A/C
Exterior cosmetic:
rat rod dip coat until I get ready for a repaint
removed front spoiler, rear “wing” spoilers
reconditioned wheels
To do: repaint, finish new front spoiler adaptation
+ a few other repairs, and all the normal maintenance (20W-50 Royal Purple, Continental tires, TB/WP, etc.)
Big to-do's
Torque tube and converter
recondition AT parts (NOT a total redo)
repaint
It never stops, but that's a big reason I love it!

Martin - I admire your very personal and creative approach over a decade of ownership....Your top and bottom refresh jobs were meticulous. You should name it "Spinal Tap"...cuz it's got New discs and New rotors...no other 928s have both. Did you create a thread for your pod and dash project? If you have pics, please post a few.

Wow...Meet the Flockers ... that's awesome. Somehow I missed that thread. It's a great option to other methods of recovering. Looking forward to seeing it in person soon. Would love a tour of your shop. I'm sure you have lots of non-928 projects going on.

Congrats. Always interesting to see the cumulative repairs over a long period of time. My 1987, while acquired a little less than a year ago with 50k miles, has has had a fair amount of issues beyond the PDI.
Nonetheless, I am encouraged once things have settled down, to see a compliation over a long period of time.
