Default Brake Pads

Do brake pads get old when not used?
I have a set used brake pads sitting in my basement and wondering if "aged" pads are useable?

I'd say no to your first question.

But why put a set of used pads?

How used, with new disks?

New disks, not sure how "used" but lots of "meat" left.
This would be for rears brakes

Mike, they will be prefectly fine.

I've used slightly used brake pads from time to time. Often I see cars at the wreckers with nearly new brakes. Owner get a brake job and then 6 month later the transmission pops....car goes to the wreckers with perfectly good pads.
