Thanks Ed. The condition is surprising. My car is very clean and there isn't a source of moisture, etc. It's puzzling. I sprayed it with cleaner this morning and will apply some Deoxit 100 tonight and try it in the morning. Dash lights have never been brighter....but bright is a relative term.

Cleaned the rheostat well...got it looking shiny again. Applied Deoxit last night, then flushed it out again, then more Deoxit. Installed the rheostat this evening and the instrument and console lights came on at the full max brightness position. Attempting to dim the lights makes them go out. I'll buy a new one...or live with the fuse bridge for awhile.

Hello Guys, my name is Mo. Sorry ti come back to the issueI have a 1984 928S. I have the same issue as the Captain. The cluster lights are off as well as the HVAC’s. The sig lighter’s light, the shifter’s and the pod’s buttons are on. My potentionmeter is all aoxydized and is in the worst state. I removed it as I am planning to use a led dimmer. I tested the two wires and the black one has current whereas the Blk/ blue does not. I also bridged the two wires by it still does not work. Is it the blk/blue wire that is is diffective or is it something else? Thanks in advance
