cool. I remember when Dwayne picked the car up in Goochland Virginia. IIRC it was at the low of the market, had been on the market a while in our area of Richmond, guy selling had a story of health problems and it went for ballpark 12.5.

Holy crap, you hit a grand slam Hoi! Dwayne is the definition of class. He is why I have Blumaxx. Hope you can bring it also to the PVGP.

Working on my spouse to see if we can do it for PVGP. Having 3 kids under 8 do make things difficult.
I think knowing what Dwayne had put into this car, his price for the car is a practically give away! He is the best!

I'd like to add my CONGRATULATIONS to Hoi for this latest acquisition. Hoi is most professional and it's been an absolute pleasure to work with him on this transaction.
Hoi was the first contact I received on the advertisement. Funny thing is we didn't know who each other was when we started texting at 4:30am Pacific time. I will say that Hoi is mighty fast at texting - much faster than I - I was still texting the answer to the last question when the next question came in! Hoi was asking questions like when the timing belt and water pump were changed, had the crank endplay been checked and I was thinking "OK, he obviously knows something about 928s" and the fact he mentioned he had multiple 928s. I had the answers to all his questions and he asked if I do my own work to which I replied I do.
We decided it was more efficient to talk on the phone so when we talked I explained I learned most of what I know about 928s from the 928 Forum on Rennlist. It was then that Hoi asks, "Are you the Dwayne from Dwayne's Garage?", and I reply, "Yes", and I was about to ask if he had read some of the write-ups but before I could ask, Hoi says, "Oh My God! Oh My God!! I don't have any more questions - I'm prepared to buy the car." It was PRICELESS! I am still humbled by the reaction and will remember that moment with fondness always.
It's amazing to me that many of us probably wouldn't recognize each other if we bumped into each other on the street but mention the forum or a shared experience at a 928 community event and there seems to be an instant connection - the result of a strong community of interest dedicated to helping each other out by sharing a collective body of knowledge.
Well, over the next few days we exchange additional details about the car and decide to close the deal after the weekend and the rest is history.
My wife and I will miss Iris but it is comforting to know she's going to a good home and we hope Hoi will enjoy Iris as much as we have.
BTW, I took a trip down memory lane and reviewed the original post I put up (copied below) when we brought Iris home from Virginia. I chuckle now at the silly things I did to try and protect Iris for the journey to California. Fond Memories.

Congrats to both Dwayne (seller) and Hoi (buyer) on a great deal for a great 928.
PS. - Dwayne thank you for your writeups, I've used many of them over the many years of 928 ownership, keeping my 928s maintained!!

Dwayne thats a beautiful machine.
Hoi I would strongly suggest that you take that car to New Hope auto show,
you will win the 928 category,
make sure the carpets and under them are vacuumed,
also have all the tools and owners manuals.
Thats the cleanest machine I have seen on here ,
put towels on the floors so you dont get the carpets dirty

Iris (keeping the name) is finally here in my local detailer's storage unit, the same detailer that did an awesome job on my ex-Weissach #155. It will be on one of the top lifts, so that it can look "down" on other less worthy cars ;-). Beautiful car as advertised. My detailer is amazed at the level of cleaniness with the car and its engine bay. Heeeheeee. I guess I won't be needing his service for a good while.

Took the car out for my first drive with it. Taking pics of the odometer before and after each outing. Put a little bit of gas in it so I would have to get fresh gas semi-frequently.
Realize how nice, quiet, and comfortable the car is and how cold the AC is coming out of the vent! Love the color. Not sure if I like the Iris/blue-beige or the petrol/cork better.
Planning to drive 2x/month ~20 miles each.
What do you think?

Those are two beautiful 928's!
It's funny, but the Petrol Blue car without the rear spoiler almost looks fatter and rounder than the 928S with the rear lip spoiler doesn't it? As a kid I remember looking at the 1980 brochure and asking myself if I preferred the competition package or the base car without the spoilers. I still can't decide. They both look great.
Your engine on the Iris car is just immaculate. I think that the silver bits on mine still have remnants of whatever cosmoline may have been on the car when it was delivered. I have to work on cleaning that up.
