Need an alternator bolt
Does anyone have a spare alternator bolt - the long one (8x120mm)?
I was under the impressions that there was only one version of this bolt & ordered one from Porsche for a few bucks.
I finally have the chance to put it back on the car... and what do you know. The new bolt is far too large in diameter. It seems to be 10x120mm.
Give that Porsche took four months to get it to me, I'm not going back to them.
928 Intl doesn't seem to have them in stock.
...so, does anyone have one laying around that I can buy?

What year? Sounds like they sent an S4 alternator bolt, those are M10 x 130 (part# 900-074-197-02).
For an early car you want the M8x120, part# 900-074-050-02.
928 Int'l shows those here: http://shop.928intl.com/Bolt-8x120-A...00-074-050-02/
Also available from McMaster-Carr, here: https://www.mcmaster.com/#91280a567/=16ws9qu

Yeah, it's for my '78 Euro. 928 Intl. has them on their page, but when you go to buy it, it's not in stock & will ship when they get one in... meaning to me, the same wait time as the one I ordered from Porsche (which apparently came on a boat from Germany).

Worst case it is in Germany which takes three days to reach me.
If it is the USA it takes one day to reach me.
I checked and I do not have one in stock but can check early Monday AM when Porsche' system is back up and running.
Why would you wait 4 weeks?

I initially had that thought & was irritated that Lowes and Home Depot didn't have any. The demise of the real hardware store is a sad thing. It amazes me that there doesn't seem to be one remaining within 35 miles of here. There's one somewhere in Manassas, I hear, but I haven't made it there yet.
