keeps blowing brake light fuse
1982, 5 spd, 98k miles, project car/restoration
ok guys im at a lose
ive searched.. replaced both brake light switches, ive unplugged the cruise control module, unplugged the plug on the fuse panel that goes to the VDO light box. the fuse blows when i put pressure on the brake peddle as if i was slamming the brake, it doesnt blow if i just lightly press the peddle. the lights do work lightly pressing the peddle, so i get power all the way back, i have power coming out of the plug at the fuse panel...
also recently the headlights wont go down, they turn on and off just dont go down now. i noticed the main power wire for fuse 7, goes through a few relays, that one being the start of the wire. you guys think it could be the big headlight relay causing the fuse to blow?

I had a similar issue that I traced back to wiring underneath the steering column, right above the pedal. An exposed wire was contacting a metal piece every time I depressed the pedal and it would blow the fuse. Sealed it off and solved it.

I kept blowing fuse to right rear tail light, found wire rubbed through on harness that goes to head lights under front right wheel liner were the harness comes out of inner fender well. That was fun to find!
