I'd better sell off my stash of good ones while I still can.

Hi Guys, sorry to jump in. I was following you for a while. I finally found a solution.
I am able to have part 928 552 047 04 (with 3 holes) reproduced by a friend of mine who owns a Industrial 3D Printing Facility. Actually it will be molded. Final result has therefore the same 'vynil' aspect as the original part. The new part keeps flexibility to fit although minor adjustments maybe required on the back.
The challenge is : get at least 10 persons intersted in purchasing such a copy to get to 245 € per part (excluding shipping).
If you are intereted in getting one, please contact me through the forum.
I hope this help

Sounds like another Potdog here. Sure I haven't finished my solution to this yet so anyone is free to swoop in and try their own solution.
If you need one of these now go ahead and buy his at $300 USD a piece. I will say though that mine will be considerably less than $200 and shipping will be a lot cheaper for anyone in North America. I am doing all of the engineering and manufacturing myself and don't have to pay others for their time. I will have these ready this Summer.

Sounds very interesting. Thanx for offering this.
Where are you located?
I am from Germany and would opt for two pieces of the 3hole version.
Any chance of showing us a sample before I/we sign up for it?

You must be a paid member to advertise parts for sale on Rennlist.

Agreed Nate. No way do I trust a guy who just jumped in out of nowhere. Hmm, maybe I'll send him my money first
Jerome - join up and post some info about yourself, establish some cred before hoping in to huck stuff, and it is very bad form to do so on another's thread

Hi Guys, You are right, wrong start and applologies.
So to present myself : Actually I am the founder of www.matching-numbers.net, a sport cars owners community in Belgium, switzerland and France. You can also find us on facebook https://www.facebook.com/MatchNumbers/
I personnaly own a few cars amongst which et few Porsches (924 Turbo, 912 Targa and ... a 928 from 1979).
The 928 is mint except ... that part we are talking about. I was following your forum for mors that a year and hoping a solution. I recently have had a new member in my community who owns a major 3D Printing factory in Paris.
I thought your project was dead so ...
As I start to better understand the cmplexity of that part, don't forget to consider that a 3D printing will give you a part that will have a raw aspect which will need to be covered and that the part flexiblity has a chance to be too rigid. Molding will enable us to have the right aspect + the right flexiblity to easily clip the part.
That's it. I just have had the chance to meet someone who has a strong experience on such a topic (building parts for plane fighters, etc) and hope we could team up with people having a need to get things solved by splitting production costs (ie : not making money).
Cheers,
Jerome
PS : what is 'PotDog' ?

I'd love to have a new surround. I have a one hole in good condition, but it's starting to show its age, and I'd love to get a 3 hole and put USB adapters in. However, €245 is simply not going to happen. I understand that there's a set up fee associated with the molding, but: yeesh.

Nate: It just occurred to me that you might want to consider a version with no ashtray opening, just a flat panel that could be opened up by the purchaser for gauges and whatnot.
