I have a few. How much did you want to have to reshape it? What is your budget?

Yes, after I bought one I realised how fragile it is. Planned on making one myself and keep the original one in the safe

They had early steel ones (78-79) and then went to aluminum. They changed the stamping in 1985 to fit the larger alternator in the 32V cars.

So in total there were 3 versions. I am surprised nobody has made an aftermarket alternative, it's a good sized untapped market

Mine (86.5) is pretty solid, I can't imagine anything destroying it that didn't also do some significant damage elsewhere. I always thought they were rare because people took them off and never bothered to replace it. My car didn't come with one at all when I got it, but fortunately 928 Intl had one at that time.

I have often thought this was low hanging fruit for a Jerry or Hans...

It really is. They could easily be replicated using fiberglass or plastic as the tooling to stamp metal is cost prohibitive for us.

Perhaps it also directs airflow to create a little vacuum in the engine room instead of a pressure created by air going up instead of flowing under the engine

FWIW, steel vs. aluminum, 1556 vs 698 grams.
