Default 1982 928 Starting Problem

Hello all,

I have a US model 1982 928. In the past few months as it has gotten colder it has gotten progressively harder to start, leading me to believe there was an issue with the cold start circuit.

I measured the resistance of the temp time switch and it was in spec. The connector to the switch however was cracked and once I had someone hold the connector onto the temp time switch the car started right up, leading me to believe that the issue was with the connector. I fabricated a new connector using female blade connectors and some heat shrink and the car started right up once again and drove around the block fine.

However once I parked it in the drive way, shut it off and tried to restart it the car would just repeatedly turn over without firing. I did manage to get it started again by pushing the pedal down as it started but I couldn't replicate that every time.

At this point I am totally lost. As far as I know all of the temp sensors are good, being replaced in the last year along with the air flow meter. Any ideas Rennlist on steps to take from here?

Thanks everyone in advance.

Check to see if your charcoal canister is getting soaked. At the gas pump, does your tank fill on the first effort or does the nozzle trip while you're filling? Any other abnormalities that are fuel related?

No real fueling anomalies fuel related other than this starting issue. I'll check the charcoal canister in the morning.

Oddly enough, the car has had no starting problem since I first posted the thread (just my luck) so maybe (hopefully) it was an issue that resolved itself, might just have had something to do with it sitting for a while.
