Well, I'm a real stickler for depr, so if I bought it, then it's going in a bubble in a garage in CO never to be seen or touched again until my offspring sell it after I'm gone. not much of a future for a nice car like that.

Wow. I rarely see intake manifolds that haven't been redone and are still silver...

It's awesome but, when I think about it, what good is it? I mean, this car cost almost $100,000 CDN in 1988 or even more; this is the equivalent of $200,000 today. Now they are asking $80,000. So, the value dropped by more than 50% and nobody drove it. What kind of life is that for a car?

Im of the same mindset as Doc (scary I know ).
If you made the decision to own this car then drive it you'd want to replace many parts especially the rubber parts that may leak and cause catastrophic issues.
I reviewed the recent maintenance history the dealership has on file and happy to notice the timing belt was replaced 300kms ago as well as various other components, battery and tyres.
Buy it, pay to store it for another long period and add to your will for loved ones to own down the road.

Is there corrosion / dirt on the engine parts? You'd think with just 5K, that is one summer driving, this thing would look brand new as in right off the assembly-line. Example: my engine bay with 180K isn't too far off, & has original manifold paint. Any corrosion on engine bay nuts/bolts, is from when I had to store it outside for a few months, under a cover while we re-did our kitchen.

Desperate to find VIN no and car history
Good day. Recently bought a 928, white color, from Emirates Auctions Dubai and am very desperate to find any info at all from anyone who knows any history on this car. I can't seem to find a VIN no AT ALL no matter where i looked, under front windscreen, on both door sides looking for decals with the VIN, in the battery box compartment, i even went extreme to removing steering wheel and instrument cluster and looking on the instrument panel frame... with no luck and all in vain.
Someone told me to check the passenger side, by removing the seat, is that true?
The reason for my desperate search for the VIN is
a) to track the most recent owner (if any at all) to know if the car was just imported from Japan or imported then registered in the UAE (in any emirate) so had a plate number and registration, etc...... btw, car is a japanese import from the numerous stickers around the engine bay and on the driver side door sil
b) i'm ready to burn some good hard earned cash in the vicinity of 70kaed plus taking it to the extreme with complete makeover, bodykit, interior completet redone, Stage 4 kit 700hp conversion project so i need and would love to have a diehard 928 lover that can be a guide, guru, buddy, tutor to save me some quality time whilst i take on this quest and have fun on this mission. Any help would be very much appreciated!! PM me or just shout out load, thanks!

Race Car
You should create a specific thread about this car, and not include your message into another one.
From the body work, your car seems to be a 1978 to 1986 model.
The location of the VIN has changed during the production of the 928 but if you can find the engine number (near the water pump, on a specific flat area), we can guess a model year and then tell you where to look for the complete VIN.
The engine number should something like M28/?? 81 ? ?????.
