indicator lights, rear lights Canbus?
I intend to change the lights in the rear to LED. Do I need to use Canbus error free lights for this? I know the car is way before Canbus time but the inboard "computer" knows certain lights are working so should I use error free lights?

As I recall it won't make any difference what type of LED you chose to used, they will both trigger an error unless you want to install a Load resistors or jump out the Lamp controller at it's plug (that is what I do).
Jumping out the controller takes advantage of the LEDs less loading on the circuit(s) and lowered current draw of the LEDs
Only the Running "tail and side" and "Stop" lamps are monitored, the License plate and Backup can just be changed w/o any issues.
The Turn signal bulbs to LED will require an LED flasher or only do the Back and will blink a bit quicker but will work.

For what its worth I had some early "CANBUS" LED bulbs in my 86.5 and it would NOT set off the "tail light" warning, so I would assume they contain some kind of resistor. I did have to add a resistor to the 3rd center mounted stop light but that is a different circuit.
