Default Introducing myself and my 928

Hi, everyone, I am a first time Porsche owner and I have been encouraged to make a post introducing myself and my car...so here goes! My name is Shaughan (pronounced Shawn) and I purchased a GP white 1981 928 auto about 2 weeks ago.

This site has already been invaluable as I was able to learn about wheels and offsets to get properly fitted rims (I went with Carerra IIIs), and I was able to get a stubborn window to roll up (ignition!). Thank you all already!!!

The car is going to the body shop next week. It's in decent shape with some surface rust around the rear windows. Most of the things inside don't work, including the heat, seat controls, sunroof, AC, odometer, speedo, temp gauge, and gas gauge. My goal is to have every single thing on the car functioning by the summer.

Welcome Shawn (I can't pronounce Shaughan)

Good luck with your new shark. I hope you succeed in your goal! There's a lot of great 928 owners in Georgia that I bet would help you out if you need it.

I have family in Buford and Bowman, GA. You probably don't know where Bowman is.

Young Harris is real north GA! I've been as far as Helen.....and back.

More pictures of your car, if you can!

Thanks! I am up in Towns county at the NC border. It's about 2 hours from Atlanta.

I hope my shark looks as good as yours someday!!!

I am currently going through the New Visitor thread.

Welcome Shaughan (much better spelling than Sean)! Nice looking 928! I think they look great in white. What color is the interior? Any pics?

Shaughan,

Welcome! There are quite a few of us in the Atlanta area. I am up I-85 just north of Buford. There are also several RL guys in north Atlanta off GA-400. RichVM has several get togethers at his shop, Garage928. There is a Facebook page, Atlanta 928 Owners and folks post over there as well. Rich has many cars and typically is a good source for used parts locally.

Feel free to reach our anytime as one of us is typically working on something!

Cheers,

Kevin

Thanks! I am planning on taking better pics, but this one is all I have of the interior right now.

Greetings Shaughan. Great looking car. White ones have become popular acquisitions recently. You need to move up near Curt (upstate New York) so you have a few more months until summer - you might need the extra time. Most of what you need to fix/restore you haven't found yet (unless you've been lurkin' and workin' on it for awhile. Enjoy the journey.

Welcome Shaughan. Sweet looking car, and very clean looking. You will eventually get all of those things working, and hopefully before the stuff that is working starts to fail
Kidding aside, even the very best examples are ongoing projects. The items you identified may be easy fixes with the cleaning of the various ground points on the car (easy and free), replacing fuses and relays (easy and relatively cheap), to more involved. Look at the FAQs at the top of this forum, and look for Sharskin's write ups, Dwayne's write ups, and so forth. So much info available for us here.
