... be the one who creates an illuminated rear center reflector strip for the GTS bumper. It would brighten further when braking .

What mod would you like to see?

I've looked into this. Even tried to modify an existing one.

You can get the luminescent material about 1 mil thick, but the current lenses are glued together with the kind of glue that melts the lens and the backing together. Ended up completely ruining a lens trying to get it apart or even make a slit to slide the luminescent sheet in behind the red lens.

To use the original parts would have to find the manufacturer and see if you can purchase some of the lens' sets BEFORE they are glued together

Also thought about 3d printing the lens and the back plastic, there are people that are doing that for replacing older car lenses. But couldn't locate a printer what would do something that size.

Do think it would be very cool though. Especially if lit the same brightness as the tail lights, then got brighter to match the brake lights.

What about just drilling holes in the back section and inserting small LEDs? Not sure it would achieve a uniform illumination though.

Any other mods folks would like to see but aren't yet available?

Default Precision Shifter...

My vote goes for a precision-shifter for the 5 speeds.

A bonus would be to also provide the option to lock-out 1st gear while out on the track, therefore, only gears 2 thru 5 would be accessible. As an idea, perhaps it could use a flip-able gate mechanism for its operation.

I will be first-in-line to buy a precision shifter.

How about more reliable interior lights and gauges?

Rear mount turbo kit for 5 spd S4's. One that utilizes minimal piping in the engine bay to try and retain a more stock appearance.

For the rear reflector illumination, consider routing (with a small router) a shallow channel in the rear for SMD LED strip lighting like this. Add a PWM dimmer for the running lights, bypassed when brakes are applied.

Really - how the heck did they overlook that basic function for the entire production run!?

I'm guessing this would not create an even illumination of the strip. Might be worth a try with a spare strip I guess.

Easy to duplicate the door-switch function with a parallel switch. Just ground the door-switch wire anywhere in the loop, easy since it goes to every interior light.

There are various flavors of LED strip with more LED emitters per foot to get away from the 'spots of light' effect.

There are casting resin methods that support making your own red strip with a little work. Make an impression of the original piece for a silicone mold, but thick enough to include the electro-luminescent layer underneath.

OK smarty pants, come up with a illuminated strip replacement and a simple switch that we can easily install - with instructions. We're waiting.

That's what I did for my Spyder build when I installed newer style door panels with lights. I created a single circuit for both door lights and the glovebox light, adding a spring/pin to the glicebox door. If any one of them is opened, making a ground,, all three lights come on. Each door light also works independently if desired by tilting the light in the housing, but it being a convertible, I only had the three lights to tie together.

Something like this would cast a more even dispersed light.

These cold-cathode flourescent lamps tend to be glass tubing, less than ideal both for space occupied and for fragility.

Randy -- how wide-thick-long is the reflector now?
