Default do i need to use smaller springs when replacing front shocks on a 79

or can I use original springs.i have read that front end will sit too high with new shocks,also do I use bilstein ,koni,or something else?i would like not to change springs

Its the lack of an adjustable collar on the new shocks IIRC...others will chime in.

If you are retro-fitting adjustable collars for the front springs, you will need to change the springs to a later model. IIRC, the earlier springs have an extra coil that will make the front end sit too high.
If you are strictly replacing the shocks and retro-fitting adjustable collars, by all means use your original springs

or you can just cut the front springs a bit to achieve the lower end of factory ride height. Search is your friend. T

so ,if I understand what has been posted here;if replacing shocks with original,no adjustable collar,then I can reuse original springs without height change?
