Instrument cluster dimension request

Does anyone know the space available between the bottom of the instrument cluster and the steering column, as marked by the red arrow on the 1988 and earlier cars (no digidash)?

This is to verify the space available for my LCD project to make sure it fits earlier cars as well as digital dash cars.
