Sharktoberfest "unveiling"
For as long as I have owned my 928, I have not been able to get it with me to Sharktoberfest due to business conflicts. Last year I could not attend at all.
But this year I am working hard to be there, and doing everything I can do be there in my car. I just put the engine back in last weekend.
I am planning to drive- if I get the car running Ok- as I am just finishing up what has taken 6 months, to overhaul the drive train and do alot of cleaning. If you thought it was clean before.... So not only will this be its first appearance at Sharktoberfest, It will be its grand unveiling event after spending the summer in the garage on the lift.
Some of you have seen pics that I have posted on my FB or on Norcal 928 FB., but not much here since the thread about "pulling my heads".
The drivetrain rebuild started because I had leaking coolant into the valley from the headgaskets- I suspected failed 30 year old original gaskets, or head corrosion, and it turned out to be neither. The heads had been off at some point- gaskets were not original, and there was no corrosion. But the engine internals had quite a story to tell- some unusual wear- and bent rods....Greg Brown did my bottom end rebuild over the summer and was quite surprised with what was found. Will tell the whole story at Sharkfest !
Im very much looking forward to attending with the car, meeting old friends and making new, and showing it to all of you and telling its story.
Hope you like what you see!
